A rare midweek treat!

Just a couple of posts ago, I was ranting about finding it hard to style my dinner outfits, often planning a look and then having to change it last minute due to a "technical glitch" - such as a white jumpsuit that was too see through for me to feel comfortable throughout dinner.

However, a lovely outfit that could not be passed just like this, I decided to push on and find a solution. So here is that wonderful white jumpsuit which I love so much  - and finally styled !With my super skills in fixing this issue I hope you enjoy this look.

As you know I am always finding great looks at reasonable prices and this outfit is one such testimony. Saw this jumpsuit on Forward by Else Walker ( check it out here) however, found the similar style on Shein.com ( get the look for less here) which fits me perfectly too.

Wow - what a weather Hong Kong is experiencing at the moment.

Fall's Must-Have Clothing Item :: Trench Coats featuring Fashionmia.com

Tuesday, October 18, 2016 Simone - Your Style Architect 0 Comments

Happy midweek everyone,

Was able to have a few hours quiet time and chanced upon this great online store - Fashionmia.com which had some great trendy and stylish pieces online. A perfect timing seeing I am now looking for items to create my Fall wardrobe and with my recent post highlighting Fall's Top 10 Colour Trends ( read it here) , I decided to put together a list of some of their Trench Coats which I am gravitating towards and certainly considering to get.

Whilst the weather is still pretty warm here in Hong Kong, a light outerwear is still required for chillier mornings and nippy evenings. Too early yet to dig out the heavy winter overcoats from storage vacuum bags, here are some must have styles, reasonably priced that will get you going till Winter.

Hooded Roll Up Sleeve Plain Drawstring Trench
Naturally my favourite colour  this Fall ( if you have yet to notice) is the Olive hue trench. Edgy, yet comfy - it is the perfect throw over to take you through cooler weather yet allowing you the freedom of mix and matching. Check out the above style and more by clicking here.

Plain Breasted Chic Lapel Trench Coats

A classic style and one that I would most highly recommend is this grey, plain breasted lapel trench coat. Typical in terms of design and style for trench coats but don't you agree - it's certainly a versatile and classic style year-on-year, season after season and it never seems to run out of fashion. I particularly love this grey colour so it allows you more versatility playing with more coloured clothing items rather than trending it in usual black or camel. The new black, if I can say so and smart for work outfits too.

Printed Lapel Trench Coat

Now admit it. Whenever you see the Duchess of Cambridge - Kate Middleton, dressed in her prettiest of printed coats and matching dress sets, did you not ever wondered, " How I wish I could look like that?" Glamourous and sophisticated, a printed trench would be a good option this Fall to change your style slightly - to be brave and bold and go places one could only dream of - being out of one's comfort zone of plain coloured, single tone coats. Then go crazy for once and get yourself a printed trench. A lovely nice fall colour to play with and certainly a pretty cut and fabric pattern where you can feel like a princess, check this look out and more printed trench coats here.

Appealing Houndstooth Printed Trench Coats
Speaking of printed coats, another trending Fall 2016 print is the Houndstooth or Gingham print. For this reason, I like this feminine styled trench in Houndstooth. Elegant and sophisticated in design, a pretty number especially for evening dinners and certainly another trench option for work.

Plain Chic High Neck Trench Coat

I was so delighted to spot this casual half trench in my favourite beige hue. Loving the high collar style and ruffled sleeve, this high neck trench coat is one perfect for mix and matching with pants or skirt giving a feminine yet edgy touch to an outfit. Kind of like a biker chic style. Just not in leather and studs - if you know what I mean.

Lapel Breasted with Pockets Trench Coat
Appealing Lapel Breasted with Pockets Trench Coat

So, alright. I get it. You still like to be safe with fashion and staying conventional. Perhaps preferring to invest in one solid piece to take you through the season. Then this classic black trench  or beige lapel with pockets would be that perfect choice. For more colour choices and styles similar to this, click here to view more.

Pink Faux Suede Trench

Nonetheless, finally this pastel coloured trench may still help you get through Fall. A nice change working with a pastel coloured trench. Only if you dare venture being more creative in your dressing style. I do enjoy playing with colours and so this subtle pink faux suede trench adds that feminine touch to what is a more masculine styled coat.

Which is your favourite style?

Simone xoxo

Olive Dreams :: Ruffled Sleeve Olive Romper + Chandelier Tassel Earrings

Saturday, October 15, 2016 Simone - Your Style Architect 2 Comments

Happy Saturday to you!

A nice relaxing week with some time off from work, spent catching up with friends and working on new crafts for school.

Loving this Olive hued romper cum dress from ZARA which is still perfect for that Summer-Fall transition seeing that the colour is all Fall but yet of cotton fabric which is still perfect for the slightly warmer afternoons here of still late 20 - early 30 degrees.

If you recall how crazy I was over trending White in summer, this Fall 2016, for some funny reason I am gravitating alot to Olive hued items. This was before I actually researched Fall 2016's colour pantones and guess what?! Olive came out tops as the first colour highlighted to trend for Fall 2016.

A loose tent dress cum romper ( so it's a romper underneath but outfit looks like a dress). I wanted to add a pop of colour to this slightly dull hue so opted to cinch the waist with an embroidered belt and paired it with these gorgeous LOVISA tassel earrings which was a recent birthday gift.

Not sure if you recall my rescue dog Rum ( and her pack that used to roam my old village and I started feeding them) - well am glad to update that whilst 2 of the pack are still in the kennels but happy as can be. And the other boy out of the pack is now adopted by a lovely European couple and here Rum is totally domesticated. Able to walk on lead, react to simple commands such as " sit" and " paw" and she is just too cute to watch me with my camera. Therefore I decided to let her join me for a few shots.

Before I go, here's some ideas for you when next out shopping in terms of Fall's Top 10 Colour Trends for 2016. You must read the full article here.

Have fun mix and matching them.

1) Olive
2) Coppertone
3) Rust
4) Diver ( i.e Dark Teal to midnight blue)
5) Dark Chocolate
6) Flax ( i.e Taupe)
7) Scarlet ( i.e Red)
8) Burgundy
9) Baby Blue
10) Dust ( i.e Light Grey)

So which is your favourite colour to trend for Fall 2016?

Love,
Simone xoxo

Up in the SKYE@Pullman :: Monochrome Outfit + Leather Mules

Sunday, October 09, 2016 Simone - Your Style Architect 0 Comments

Happy Sunday everyone,

Have you ever had the trouble of wondering what to wear when headed out for dinner? At the back of my mind, I always pre-plan my outfit in preparation for going out so that I would not need to fuss, rush and stress especially when I am running tight on timing. Of course, having advance knowledge of the venue would help for you to consider the direction of your outfit e.g lace, sexy, casual, elegant etc...

Issue is, often than not, most of the outfits I plan to wear would end up somehow not looking right for the occasion once I put it on, or there would be some " technical glitches" i.e a white jumpsuit which ended up too transparent and I really don't have an inner camisole for a white jumpsuit ( seriously how do you find a romper-style camisole with long enough leg length to run through the length of the jumpsuit pants? So here I am on Friday, heading out to a recently launched rooftop bar called SKYE @ the Pullman hotel. Unfortunately I have yet to purchase a small hand held dslr camera that could fit in my clutch and lugging a huge dslr camera would be such a bother, hence ended up with iphone pics. Hope you don't mind.

A nice entry at the lift lobby, club music playing over the central speakers and  3 lovely hostesses waiting patiently at the entrance to greet guests and escort them out to their tables.

It was a crowded evening at the bar and as I did not feel comfortable to impose and inconvenience any of their guests, hence here's a quick shot of the view at the bar, overlooking most of Causeway Bay and across the Victoria Harbour to Kowloon.

After our first drink outside with lovely crispy whitebait and nuts for bar snacks, we were escorted back into the main dining area where the ambience was quieter more elegant than chic.

Still with a great view behind us, we indulged in the fusion contemporary fine dining food. A little over priced for the portions served, and although the rooftop bar was certainly a place we would return again, I will be honest to say that I am not too sure about the restaurant. Somehow the evening left me a little disappointed in terms of flavour and portioning as far as food is concern. As with most things, less is more and sometimes too many over powering flavours just clash and don't work well for the dish. However the bar as a venue I would most certainly highly recommend.

So back to the outfit for the evening. I finally decided ( after 5 changes of outfits) to pull together old favourites once again to get through the evening. Paired this lovely off shoulder white top with a very old ZARA stretchy pants. You can check out my other post featuring this top here.

This long neck tie accessory is actually a belt from the white jumpsuit which I had to give up trying to style for the evening. Kept the whole look on the monochromatic colour tone and since it was a " Chanel" night so to speak, paired Chanel accessories to complete the look. Check out my other post pairing Chanel accessories here.

Loving the backdrop of suitcases behind the Concierge desk of the Pullman Hotel, I had to take a couple of shots in this location. ( psst... can you spot the Concierge Porters in the picture? Cool uniform don't you think)

My favourite BCBG Maxazria Plisse Watch still rules the day. Given it's a discontinued style, I am certainly holding on to this beauty - hopefully it'll be a vintage watch or collector's item someday.

For a slight pop of colour to the outfit, pulled out my Zara leather mules in mauve hue to pair with the look.

I hope you enjoyed this look and don't forget to click on the links below for my tips on getting the look for less and other more affordable options to style this look !!
